The Shortest Month with the Greatest to Give

Randy Emillio

February is so many things all in one: the shortest month of the year, the month we all celebrate love for all that it’s worth, the month we celebrate black excellence, and the month we decide to give up a vice  for 7 weeks. In a lot of ways, February is just like us. We tend to put so much on our plates in such a small time frame, hoping that the constant swing of events will distract us from our ever growing state of autopilot. It’s times like these where I am so beyond thankful for the small breaks in our day to day. For me, and so many others, that break in our day is RUD. RUD gives us all the laughs we need to make it just one more day, encourages the fitness journey we all start but struggle to finish, blends dance lessons with real life lessons we wouldn’t get anywhere else, and above all, creates a sense of family that in some ways is stronger than blood. And just like February, we are blessed to be in a space that celebrates love all 365 days of the year, celebrates black excellence through appreciation of where hip hop started and where its going, and allows us to give up any fear of judgment we may face outside of those walls. RUD is so many things all in one, and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
